Vintage Topping Model in original box from our private estate collection. This is the one collectors want! This "as-new" T-39 is a great example of a well taken care of and preserved Topping.

This handsome Topping model carries the serial number of 59-2868, signifying the very first of the T-39As. Serial number 59-2869, carrying "TG-869" on the fuselage, was widely used as the North American promotional photo for the series; an Official Release Press Kit for The U.

Air Force Jet Utility Trainer Saberliner T-39 featured the tail number 92869. This airplane was almost in the same markings as this Topping model with the exception that the Topping model features a dayglo tail whereas 92869 had a white vertical surface.

Please view photos as they are a part of the overall description. The North American T-39 Sabreliner was North American's answer to the USAF's 1956 specification for a utility trainer.

The new design prototype took to the air in September 1958 with testing for USAF Phase II completed at Edwards AFB by the end of 1958. The first production T-39A flew in July 1960 as the first of seven examples, numbers 59-2868 through 2874. This is a large model with a 13 wingspan (1:40 scale). The T-39 has been used in various models for many years with a T-39N trainer version still in use by the U.
