Pacific Railway Equipment Company, or PRECO, manufactured these alcohol burning heaters in the 1940s, replacing the previous heaters that were charcoal burning with no thermostat. These heaters were lowered into refrigerated yes, refrigerated! Boxcars and attached with the clips on its sides during the winter months to keep fragile loads, like potatoes, from freezing completely.
They were fully adjustable with a functioning thermostat. If you have any questions or would like more photos, feel free to message me at any time.
