Very rare bread crate circa 1890s-1900s. Can be used for a cool coffee table or great storage etc. Great patina that only age can produce yet the colors are the most vibrant that I have ever seen on one of these.

Measures 28" length, 20" width, 20 height. Very good used condition for its age. Paint show chips/scapes and box shows some wear including various chips.

The colors are very vibrant, especially the red and the handles are still in tact. Still has lots of life left as is. It was distinctive and light yet strong and durable. It also provided ventilation for its contents. These crates were also easily broken down so not many survived.

This box was used to transport loaves of bread by wagon or train. Delivering goods by rail meant a larger customer base for businesses like this bakery.

The box is constructed of wood with rope handles and could be carried by one person.
