A superb antique signal box block instrument from the Midland Railway Company. This would originally have formed part of the system used by signalmen to maintain safety on the railways by allowing only one train on each'block' of line at any one time. It is stamped at four locations'MRCo' and (indistinctly) dated 1903 to the bottom. It stands 47cm high, is 17cm deep and 28cm wide.

The Midland Railway Company was in operation from 1844 until 1931, later consolidating with others lines to become the London, Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS). Condition: In superb, carefully & sensitively cleaned/restored condition.
