Standard issue on many modes of transport from early 1910s until the 1960s this very heavy version was adopted to a 12v plug in the late 1920's early 1930's. This is a very heavy piece of historical transportation equipment which seems to have a pulse when plugged in.

These coin operated machines were an automation of fare collections which were introduced with the PAYE system making them more efficient and honest than the previous human system. It also allowed large traffic fares to be collected efficiently in city bus, trolley tram and subway routes. MEASUREMENTS Vintage Johnson fare machine measures 23" tall by 7" wide by 7 deep and weighs 47lbs 10oz. CONDITION The hand crank mechanism works and the machine buzzes when plugged in but it is recommended to be serviced if it is intended to be used (please see all pictures as they form part of the condition description).
