The Taxi Call Box is made of cast aluminum (herculite) with an engraved metal name plates and a locking front door with the Gamewell Key. The Yellow Cab Taxi Call Box, Telephone and Top Light Assembly have a powder coated (baked on enamel) finish with professionally hand painted lettering. Inside the Taxi Call Box is a 1930-40's Western Electric, Model 211 Telephone that has been converted for use on today's telephone system. This Yellow Cab Taxi Call Box also features a working Top Light Assembly with an Amber Glass Globe. The top light makes a great night light for your office, game room, den or other special area and is controlled by an "On-Off" Line Cord Switch that plugs into regular household AC electrical service.This Gamewell Taxi Call Box Telephone will work fine with regular telephone service. This 1950's Yellow Cab Company Taxi Call Box Telephone is in beautiful restored condition. Some Gamewell Call Boxes with Top Light Assemblies being mounted onto a "wall" may require 1/4 to 3/8 inch thick shims between the back plate and the wall.This may be required to provide a clearance between the Top Light "Guard" and the Wall for easy removal. If necessary "Flat Washers" taped together work well for this purpose.
